Vision & Mission

We are a present centered, not future oriented organization.  Although we are advocates for the end of the War on Drugs and the beginning of a saner regulatory system, we’ve come to the conclusion that we don’t have to wait for this transition to happen to make a significant contribution to creating a healthy and vibrant society supported by the healing and transformational power of the skillful and intentional use of psychedelics and cannabis.   We can already do this work legally in certain contexts so why not do something with it now?

We believe strongly that local, grassroots programs and communities are the new frontier of the consciousness movement, and local, regional and new paradigm organizations are emerging in many cities.  Living in Colorado,  one of the first states to legalize recreational use of cannabis, has given our community an opportunity to cultivate a vision of freedom that actually supports our larger society, not disrupts it.  We’ve decided to cultivate this vision to see what comes of it.

This movement is not just about the right to "smoke pot" or "use drugs."  This movement is about healing an old war wound on consciousness itself, and creating a space where we can all live and thrive in peace.  Wherever you live, you are invited to participate in this conversation with us, even come for a visit if you can, and take this feeling of freedom home with you.

Our intention is to make these profoundly healing and transformational experiences as accessible and as safe as possible, to educate the public and intentional journeyers about the benefits and risks of these practices, and to cultivate a healthy, sustainable, and caring grassroots community while doing so.  We envision being part of an international network of interdependent and independent local and regional organizations doing the same sort of things we are, but designed to fit in their own local, cultural and legal ecosystems.

In addition to our individual and community services, Medicinal Mindfulness explores the third, and newest front of cannabis activism, something we’re calling the Third Frontier.  The medicinal use of cannabis (the First Frontier) is almost becoming mainstream, as the legal, recreational use of cannabis (the Second Frontier) is becoming more and more accepted as well.  Federal laws are already changing.  In addition to the medical and recreational territories being established, we see a not so charted expanse, this Third Frontier, the intentional use of cannabis for psycho-spiritual transformation and creative problem solving.  Although the transpersonal use of cannabis is ancient, this potential (and how to tap it) has yet to be fully understood in our western culture.

Before you dismiss the potential of the humble herb, Cannabis Sativa, to facilitate profound experiences, we have discovered repeatedly that when used sparringly, skillfully and in the right container, cannabis can actually elicit a psychedelic experience that is as strong as any classical psychedelic, providing many of the same benefits while reducing some of the challenges that arise with these psychedelics.

To fully explore this Third Frontier, we facilitate legal, safe and sacred altered states experiences through our Medicine Song Community Breathwork Program (a non-medicine experience) and our Conscious Cannabis Circles (an intentionally guided psychedelic journey where cannabis is used).  As advocates for responsible medicine use, we are coupling these two equally transformational and healing experiences into an ongoing practice that amplifies the power of both.

We are working daily to make this vision a reality and to heal the cultural shame and oppression that limits our opportunities for healthy, safe and intentional use of psychedelics and cannabis.  We are doing this because be believe it has the potential to help heal and transform the world, our societies, our families and ourselves.  We have a lot of evidence to back this up now.  We are looking for allies, practitioners and journeyers to support this important work.  If this inspires you, please walk with us on this sacred journey.

Please note: We do not encourage any illegal activities or the use or abuse of cannabis or any other medicine. Nor do we believe that cannabis or other medicine exploration, even within the confines of applicable laws, is appropriate or beneficial for everyone. We are conditional advocates for intentional, sacred and non-habitual cannabis use for those individuals who have chosen to use cannabis already on their own.  A substantial amount of skill development, the right mind set, and an intentional setting are required to minimize the risks involved in the exploration of powerful medicines.  Our work is, at its foundation, a Harm Reduction program.
